Nate “Rock” Quarry was hooked on fighting from
the very first moment he saw his first Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC).
He wasted no time and went to the local gym to enroll in some mixed martial
arts classes. With no prior experience and only weight lifting behind him
he quickly received humbling lessons in his first few classes. Nate knew he
had to continue until he could intelligently defend himself. He was very driven
from that point on and would soon find himself on the competition team where
he would become a regular fighter.
Nate excelled quickly as a fighter and eventually met Randy Couture
who turned him onto the newly formed Team Quest. Under the leadership of his
new team, he went 5-1 as a professional fighter. He would soon join the first
cast of The Ultimate Fighter reality series, which was a huge hit! Nate was
injured during taping and was not able to compete but his popularity soared
during the season. After the show Nate went on a tear and dismantled his first
three opponents and earned himself a title shot along the way.
